In the late 1970's, Bob and Patty Brower set out to fulfill their dream. They saw the potential in Monterey County as a quality wine growing region, and in 1982 began building what is now known as Château Julien Wine Estate in Carmel Valley, California. This year they are celebrating 26 years in the wine business.

Wine Estate gears up for wine & car enthusiasts
during August’s classic car week
Dine amongst the vines and view vintage Ferraris at first annual event
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Carmel, Ca. – Chateau Julien Wine Estate has organized week-long festivities to coincide with the region’s popular classic car week August 11 – 15, 2009. A premier Dine in De-Vine event will welcome guests into the vineyard for an authentic wine country dining experience nightly beginning at 6:30pm, with vintage cars on display throughout the evening. The Wine Estate will also host the Ferrari’s FCA Vintage Concours on Thursday August 13th, and welcome guests from 1:00pm to 4:00pm to view the rare collections. Both events take place amongst the winery’s 16-acre estate of vineyards, Chateau and cobblestone courtyards.
Effortlessly set tables will line the plush Sangiovese vineyard Tuesday through Saturday evening for the first annual Dine in De-Vine, offering guests a new option for dining during the busy week. Chef Terry N. Teplizky has prepared an inviting, elegant pre-fix Basque menu, with choice of entrée and wine, to be served amongst the vines, followed by a dessert lounge and vintage car display at the Chateau. “As long-time fans of the local classic car events, we hope that our evening dinners will enable visitors to experience our local wine country after hours- and see some rare concours quality cars,” comments Chateau Julien Special Events Director Michele Gogliucci. Featured evening highlights to date include Porsche, early 911S and R Group 1967- 1973, and Ferrari. Dine in De-Vine menu selections begin at $47 per person. Learn more about the menu, Chef and featured cars on the Chateau Julien website- News & Events. Reservations begin at 6:30pm each evening. Seating is limited so please make your reservations early.
During the day on August 13, 2009, the Wine Estate will also host its first Ferrari FCA Vintage Concours which will be open to the public from 1-4pm. Back to Italy and now Germany! June 2008
Pictures can tell a thousand words, but I have to tell you about this trip. I left San Francisco on Tuesday and flew to New York where I boarded a flight to Milan. After early arrival in Milan (thanks to American Airlines) I drove 3 1/2 yours to Mugello. There I caught up with the Ferrari F-1 Cliente group and spent the rest of the day with track activities (some with Benjamin De Rothschild (yes the wine guy). After a few hours rest, we (Tony, Kevin, Walter and I) took off for Florence. We encountered a huge traffic jam (highway was closed for almost 2 hours) and Kevin Weeda got out of his car and walked to the next exit where, due to a kind truck driver, he met with a Taxi to take him to the airport. The rest of us, just waited until the road was open again and drove, like crazy, to Florence. There we boarded a plane to Frankfurt to look at the F3000 car that was supposed to be at the track (long story). The drive (provided by Walter Rossing) was down the autobahn at lightning speeds. We arrived near Koln and viewed a great F3000, 500 HP racing car. Then back to Frankfurt, return to Milan and after a few hours sleep back to San Francisco via Chicago. All of this in 4 days! Can you do it?

Mugello, Italy - June 2008 with Marc Gene
Historic Mugello Circuit, Italy - June 25, 2008. Fun and excitement exist whenever you can attend a Ferrari event and get on the racetrack. We were fortunate enough to drive with Marc Gene, Ferrari test driver, around the track at speed. Even though we drove an Audi, the event was exciting as Marc put Gunner's car though fast paced track. Gunner might have to purchase new tires to get home!

Back to Maranello, Italy - for Ferrari 60th Celebration - June 2007
Just received are some of the photo's taken by Ferrari during the event. The top photo is Bob Brower receiving his award for "Best of Class" with his 275-GTS Ferarri. The second photo is of Tony Jackapino, Bob's Brother-in-Law and co-driver, having our trail map signed by Piero Ferrari. A dream event.
